Newcastle have confirmed Sandro Tonali is being investigated by the Italian prosecutor’s office. And the Italian Football Federation Amid allegations of illegal gambling.

The Newcastle summer signing is one of three players being investigate by prosecutors. Along with Aston Villa’s Nicolo Zaniolo and United’s Nicolo Fagioli Ventus, who has already ban for 7 months.

Newcastle issue a statement: “Newcastle United can confirm that. Sandro Tonali is being investigate by the Italian Public Prosecutor’s Office. And the Italian Football Federation in connection with illegal gambling activities.”

“He and his family will continue to have the full support of the club as this process proceeds. Sandro and Newcastle United are unable to comment further at this time.”

The FA said Tonali is still free to play for Newcastle on Saturday against Crystal Palace. But they will wait for the results of the Italian investigation before commenting further.
